Pastor Terrell L. Murphy is a native of Granite Falls,
North Carolina and a graduate of Appalachian State University
where he received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Communications.
His corporate work history consists of eleven and a half
years with the Hormel Foods Corporation as a Sales Merchandiser,
Sales Representative, and Territory Manager in Charlotte
and Raleigh, North Carolina as well as Atlanta, Georgia.
Pastor
Murphy was licensed to minister at New Birth Missionary
Baptist Church August 28, 1994, and it was at New Birth
that he was ordained as an Elder on February 4, 1996.
Pastor Murphy has served as a mentor, Male Chorus member
(now the Nation of Jesus) sang on the Praise Team and
in the Prison Ministry as a minister and an administrator.
In November 1996, Pastor Murphy was appointed Elder
by Bishop Eddie L. Long, Senior Pastor of New Birth
Missionary Baptist Church, as Director of College Ministries.
The effects of the College Campus Ministry at New Birth
focus primarily in the Atlanta University Center, which
consists of Clark-Atlanta University, Morehouse College,
Morris Brown College, and Spelman College. In August
2000 he was appointed as Director of Youth Development,
which oversaw the spiritual development of New Birth
youth in the areas of nursery, children ministry, jr.
high and high school as well as the college ministry.
While serving as Director of Youth Development, he served
as chaplain for the football teams of Southwest Dekalb
and Clark Atlanta University. Pastor Murphy has a great
passion for youth and believes greatly in the ability
of young men and women to advance the Kingdom of God
in their schools and on their campuses.
Pastor Murphy and his wife Susan of nineteen years are
the proud parents of their two sons Samuel and Johnathan.
